What To Expect

Little Italy
"The Amici (Friend) House is a historic house in San Diego’s Little Italy—originally a single-family residence by the Giacalone family and later a residential rental property. Antonio Giacalone and his wife, Josephine were a part of the Italian fishing community in Little Italy and arrived in San Diego in 1916. Mr. Giacalone was considered one of the best fishermen during the 1920s and 1930s. The Giacalone family’s home was originally located on W. Date, between Columbia and India. In 2014, when the Piazza della Famiglia broke ground, the Little Italy Association partnered with HG Fenton to move the house to Amici Park on W. Date and Union Streets and preserve the historic home."

Short review: absolutely do not miss this tour!

Long review: this is an amazing food tour, not to be missed! My biggest concern when I go on a food tour is how much food there will be. No concern needed on this tour, there is more than enough food to fill you up! Anthony is an AMAZING tour guide. He's the nicest guy and he knows everyone in town and at every restaurant. Anthony chooses the food at each restaurant (several courses) and everything was delicious! Not only was this tour full of delicious food, but we learned a lot of history of the local area and people, with a lot of additional fun facts thrown in too. If you are looking for a fun and delicious way to spend an evening, look no further than this tour, you won't regret it!
I would definitely do this again!

Anthony Diva was an excellent guide. He's a great story-teller, he knows everyone in Little Italy, and he's just a really nice guy! The food was excellent on this tour, and it exposed us to restaurants that we don't normally go to while we're in Little Italy.
Smooth experience, lots of fun, amazing food.

Anthony was an amazing guide who was super informative and knowledgeable about the area. He was also super funny and showed us the most tasteful food! My girlfriend and I are both 22 and loved the experience. Would definitely recommend doing this to experience Little Italy to its fullest extent!

We experienced unique dishes from the regional cuisines of Italy. There was plenty of food. Our guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He made it fun for the group with his jokes and anecdotes. This is a great way to learn more of what Little Italy has to offer. We would definitely recommend it.
Lots of fun and food on this fab tour!

This was such a fantastic event for our group. Anthony did such a great job, showing us around Little Italy, pointing out the historical sites and telling us fun stories associated with the area. The progressive dinner led us to four restaurants where we sampled food that was more than we could eat! We had leftovers! From appetizers to pasta to deserts - all were delicious and filling.
It was also nice to walk around to different locations because we played musical chairs so we were able to chat with each member of the group as we naturally took different seats in each location. I would highly recommend this activity.
